Landscape for angels and lucifers, 2021- ongoing
Oil on canvas, 290*180
To reinterpret the old Chinese tradition, this work uses water as a construction material for a seemingly endless mountain range, exploring how the opposition between light and darkness marks gravity in the two-dimensional image. It also asks how the associations between light and air, or darkness and ground, predetermine our way of thinking in dichotomies, suggesting corresponding colour contrasts for sky and soil, floor and ceiling, angels and lucifers.
