The participatory project supported by the Ministry of Art and Sciences (North Rhine-Westphalia) is the artistic intervention of the first-graders into the reconstruction and visual update carried out at the century-old Wellensiek Primary School. Rather than being mere observers or helpers, children are actively involved in planning and creation of the new visual space at all stages and levels (including artistic research, production of artworks and video documentation of the process). The main idea is not to bring the existing art practices to children, but rather to alter artistic techniques through the presence of this age group in the process.
